Michael J. Dailey, 22, of Portland, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at his residence.

Born August 28, 1989, in Ripley, W.Va., he was the son of Michael L. Dailey of Portland, and Sally A. Smith Dailey of Portland, both of whom survive. He was a self-employed handyman who loved to help others. He was a 2007 graduate of Southern High School.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Carol Dailey, of Portland; maternal grandfather, Richard Roy Smith; maternal grandmother, Lottie Lawson, of Reedsville; special aunt, Melinda “Mindy” (Barry) Smith of Racine; aunt, Cynthia Smith of Texas; uncles, Donald R. Dailey of Long Bottom, Richard Smith of Reedsville, and William (Cathi) Smith of Silverton, W.Va.; great aunts, Judy Morris of Mason, W.Va., and Michelle Manning of Everts, Ky.; and cousins,Jessica (Gary) Cooper, Ella and Lila Cooper, Justin (Andrea) Smith, and Jackie Dailey, all of Racine.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Owen Dailey; maternal step-grandfather, Robert “Bob” Lawson, Sr.; maternal great grandparents, Frank and Josephine Kidwell and Richard and Louise Smith.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Cremeens Funeral Home, Racine, with Rev. Steve Reed officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to service.
