Ruth N. Smith takes top honors

POMEROY — Ruth N. Smith of Racine topped all other exhibitors in blue ribbons on her exhibits in the baking and canning category for judging at the Meigs County Fair.

Smith, 96 years old, won 25 blue ribbons on her exhibits and also took the best of show with her display of produce. Her exhibits were in classes in both canning and baking. Coming in second with 10 red ribbons was Maxine Dyer of Bidwell, and the third place top winner was Teresa Wilson of Racine with eight white ribbons. There were 311 entries in the division.

Other first place winners in the various classes, many with multiple wins, included Opal Dyer of Bidwell, Kenda Lawrence of Pomeroy, Darlene Hayes of Pomery, Linda Rathburn of Pomeroy, Darlene Hayes of Pomeroy, Howard Ervin of Racine, Dawn Weddle of Long Bottom, Karen L. Roush of Tuppers Plains, Shirley Hamm of Racine, Steven R. Barnett of Pomeroy, Vanessa Folmer of Middleport, Sharon Hall of Racine, and Debra Mohler of Pomeroy.
