POMEROY — Beautician Mrytis Kay Parker, who has been in business in Meigs County since October, 1957 will retire on Friday.

After graduating from Pomeroy High School in 1956, she attended Southern’s Beauty School in Athens, and for the past 55 years has been cutting, coloring and curling hair.

Right out of beauty school, she worked for a short time in Middleport in the Vaughan Salon, before opening her own shop in Pomeroy in space over the Pomeroy National Bank. In 1980 she moved her shop to Second Street in the Quickle building.

It is there that Friday she will leave the business which she describes as “being enjoyable all these years” and the many customers she has served year after year. She mentioned long-time customer Lera Jones who has been coming for cuts for 52 years.

Friends and business acquaintances are invited to stop by Thursday after 12:30 p.m. to wish her well in her retirement.
