Eastern golfers fall to Fort Frye

BEVERLY, Ohio — Both Eastern golf teams came up on the short end of the stick Thursday night during a non-conference dual at Lakeside Golf Course, as both the Eagles and Lady Eagles suffered setbacks to host Fort Frye.

The Eagles lost the boys match by one stroke while posting a team score of 185, compared to a 184 tally by the Cadets. Kyle Young led EHS with a 44, followed by matching 46s from David Warner and Derick Powell.

Josh Parker completed the team scoring with a 49, while Marshall Aanestad (52) and Tyler Hensley (57) also competed for the Eagles. Shon Smith led FFHS with a medalist effort of 37.

The Lady Eagles posted a team score of 236, finishing 11 shots off the pace fired by Fort Frye (225). Samantha Cline and Grace Edwards both led EHS with matching rounds of 56, while Hannah Hawley added a 60.

Cassidy Cleland completed the team score with a 64, while Allie Grueser (65) and Haley Bissell (70) also competed for the Lady Eagles.
