CENTENARY — In A low scoring contest on Monday evening, the Gallia Academy Blue Devils fell to Chillicothe.
The Cavs won by a final of 33-21, with neither team scoring more than 10 points in one quarter.
Gallia Academy started off the contest going scoreless for the first 6:21 before adding two baskets to make the score 7-4 advantage Chillicothe at the end of the first quarter. Gallia Academy cut the Cavs lead to one before Chillicothe made back to back shots, making the score 11-6. Chillicothe led 17-12 at the half time intermission.
Chillicothe outscored the Blue Devils 10-2 in the third quarter, pushing the game further out of reach for Gallia Academy. Gallia Academy’s lone third quarter points came at the 1:37 mark on a two pointer by Chuck Calvert. The Cavs led 27-14 after the third quarter. Gallia Academy outscored Chillicothe 7-6 in the final quarter, but came up short, as Chillicothe won by a final of 33-21.
The Blue Devils were led in scoring by John Troester with five points. Calvert and Jared Golden each scored four points, Nick Mitchell and Cory Eberhard each had three points, and Ethan Moore added two points.
Troester and Golden each had six rebounds to lead the Blue Devils.
Mike Turner led the Cavs with 14 points and nine rebounds. Malik London had seven points, Jason Ragland added six points, Zac Johnson scored four points, and London Beverly had two points.
The Blue Devils won the JV contest by a score of 57-50. Joel Johnston and Tyler Eastman each had 10 points to lead Gallia Academy. In the freshmen contest, Gallia Academy won by a score of 37-35. Jim Clagg paced the Blue Devils with 14 points.
Gallia Academy will host Portsmouth on Friday at 6 p.m., and Jackson on Saturday at 4 p.m.
