Gallipolis Elks Lodge #107 has been busy recently helping those area residents who receive food from a couple different sources.

The lodge purchased and delivered 120 cases of peanut butter to Gallia County Snack Pack Program and also made a donation of $500. The Snack Pack Program started in 2007 to serve one elementary school. Since its inception the program has expanded to provide snack packs to over 750 students that qualify in all elementary schools in the county, Gallia Academy Middle School and Gallia Academy High School. All donations to Snack Pack go directly to purchase food items for the students. Purchase of the peanut butter was made possible by a grant from the Elks National Foundation along with $807 from Gallipolis Elks 107.

Grace United Methodist Church’s food pantry began in 2002 when youth of the church pushed grocery carts up and down a section of Second Avenue asking for food donations. Thanks to continued food collections and donations from the community, the food pantry has grown to be able to serve over 100 families monthly. To show its support, Elks Lodge 107 made a $1,000 donation to support the pantry. The donation was also made possible by a grant from the Elks National Foundation. The Grace UMC food pantry is open from 9 a.m. to noon, every Monday and Tuesday.
