RIO GRANDE, Ohio — The University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College will host its annual Rio Career Fair on March 29.
Numerous businesses and organizations from the region will be on campus to meet with students. Susan Haft, director of new student advising, testing and career services, said the fair provides graduating seniors a chance to meet and network with potential employers.
“Our goal is to connect the students with the employers. The career fair increases graduating students’ opportunities of finding employment,” Haft said. “The event also strengthens our ties with the local communities and regions because we are working with these businesses to help them find qualified employees.”
The career fair is open to both students and the public and will take place from 1-3 p.m. in Bob Evans Farms Hall. Haft said she encourages Rio’s undergraduate students to attend as a learning experience.
“The career fair is also a great opportunity for our undergraduates because they can see the different professions and career paths available for them through their fields of study,” she said. “They can learn more about job opportunities. By talking to the representatives from these businesses and organizations, students gain experience in speaking, shaking hands and becoming the entire package employers are seeking.”
Haft said she encourages participants to be prepared to meet employers by bringing several copies of their resume and dressing as they would for a job interview.
