LANGSVILLE — A Meigs County man is under arrest and awaiting a court hearing on charges of felonious assault and cultivation of marijuana.
Randall Meyers, 40, allegedly fired gunshots at Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation agents and Vinton County sheriff’s deputies when they arrived to “eradicate marijuana from the property,” according to Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood.
An Aug. 24 marijuana destruction operation in Vinton County by the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office and the BCI identified illegal drugs at Meyer’s residence at 26695 S.R. 124 Langsville.
On Wednesday afternoon, BCI agents requested assistance from the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office following gunfire from the residence. Meigs sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene, and Meyers was taken into custody.
A firearm was seized during the arrest.
The suspect is being held in the Meigs County Jail pending a court hearing.
