The River City Players are proud to present: Bah, Hogwash! An Appalachian Christmas Carol on Saturday, December 1 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, December 2 at 2:00 pm at the Middleport Village Hall (former Middleport Elementary School). Admission is $8.00 at the door. This H’aint Dickens No indeed – it’s 1960, small-town Appalachia and Eb Scrooge, the local, miserly curmudgeon is out to make everyone’s Christmas as miserable as his own. Orphaned as a boy, he spends all his time and resources in an obsessive, ill-fated search for his long-lost, younger sister Mary, all the while alienating those around him. He seems a lost cause when he is visited on Christmas Eve by several haints (ghosts). These helpful haints (his late business partner Jake Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future) take him on an eye-opening, heart-rending journey of redemption. For 2012, the script has been rewritten and the production retooled to provide a faster-paced, shorter, more fun and enjoyable presentation; the perfect holiday outing for family and friends, reminding us all of the true meaning of Christmas. This musical comedy/drama, an original adaptation by local playwrights Roger and Mary Gilmore, remains true to Dickens’s original themes, but adds a few interesting and entertaining twists and turns including eleven original musical numbers featuring authentic, Appalachian instrumentation. The large cast includes several talented veterans of the local stage as well as many newcomers to RCP productions. This family oriented play is sure to be a great addition to your holiday entertainment schedule. Admission is $8.00 for all seats. This is a special must-see holiday event destined to become a Christmas classic, so don’t be a Scrooge – bring the whole family and enjoy Bah, Hogwash! this holiday season.
