A broadband Internet tower owned by New Era Broadband reportedly fell during the high winds and heavy rain on Wednesday morning. The tower, which is located near the Pomeroy Gun Club, was the second of its kind to be placed at the site. According to officials with the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, the tower initially located at the site was replaced after it began to lean. The second tower was put in its place, and stood until Wednesday. Sheriff Deputy Adam Smith and American Electric Power employee Floyd Ridenour surveyed the damage at the scene Wednesday shortly after the tower fell. By mid-morning American Electric Power crews were on scene to repair the damage to the electric lines and pole caused by the fall.
