PIKETON — Ashley Fitch broke the River Valley school record by running a time of 20:54 at the Piketon Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

Fitch became the first Lady Raider to break the 21-minute barrier and broke the old school record of 21:06 set by Jessica Roberts. The record had stood since 1996.

River Valley did not have a team score, though, as only three took to the course for coach Ed Sayre’s club. Tara Workman ran in a time of 23:25. Samantha Larson finished in 25:48.

No individual placing results were available. Logan elm won the girls division with 62 points. Southeastern (83) was second and Circleville third (85).

On the boys side, Logan Elm was also the team victor with 51 points. Circleville was second with 59. River Valley, with 287 points, finished ninth in the 20-team field.

River Valley’s Vince Weatherstein also had an outstanding day, as he ran the second fastest time in school history with 17:15.

Kody Johnson finished in a time of 19:24. Tyler Young (19:32), David Householder (19:46), Brandon Kirby (20:46) and Ryan Clary (21:51) also ran well for the Raiders.

River Valley’s Yoot Anukoolkarn (22:34), Jon Porter (23:49) and James Porter (24:46) ran in the open race.

South Gallia’s Steven Call (18:30) and Jacob Watson (21:40) also ran in the open race.

In the junior high boys race, River Valley’s Tyler Noble set a school junior high record with a time of 12:07. The old record was 12:29.

In the girls race, River Valley’s Carissa Wolfe finished in a time of 16:09.

River Valley is in Proctorville Thursday for the Ohio Valley Conference meet.
