Despite the mild temperatures on Saturday morning, dozens of volunteers turned out for the 13th annual Leading Creek Stream Sweep. Volunteers included youth from many local scout organizations. The first Leading Creek Stream Sweep was held in 2001 in Rutland and it has been held every April since then, roughly coinciding with Earth Day. The event was sponsored by the Meigs Soil and Water Conservation District, Rutland Township Board of Trustees and the Meigs Transfer Station. The annual Ohio River Sweep will be held June 15 at locations in Pomeroy, Syracuse and Racine.
