Burglar caught in the act, held at gunpoint

CROWN CITY — A burglar who was discovered by a homeowner and held at gunpoint until law enforcement could arrive early on Friday morning was allegedly on the search for prescription medications.

Nathan S. Unroe, 26, Crown City, was taken into custody at approximately 1 a.m. on Friday morning by Gallia County Sheriff’s Deputies who arrived on scene at the Ohio 7 South home in reference to a burglary.

According to a release issued by the sheriff’s office on Friday, deputies were dispatched to the scene at 15925 Ohio 7 South after the homeowner, who had encountered Unroe in his home, contacted the Gallia County 911 Center.

The homeowner then held the suspect at gunpoint until deputies could arrive.

Reportedly, at the time he was discovered, the suspect was in the process of trespassing/burglarizing the residence for the purposes of stealing medications.

Unroe is currently being held in the Gallia County Jail and is being charged with the burglary of an occupied structure, a second degree felony.
