Locals land 17 on TVC Hocking football team

A total of 17 players from the Ohio Valley Publishing area were selected to the 2015 All-Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division football team, as voted on by the coaches within the league.

Each of the four programs within the OVP region — South Gallia, Southern, Wahama and Eastern — came away with at least four selections, with the third-place Rebels leading the way with five choices. The Tornadoes and White Falcons tied for sixth and earned four choices each, while the Eagles were eighth overall and had four players honored.

League champion Trimble led the way with nine total selections, while Belpre was second overall with six choices as the league runner-up. Miller and Waterford both had four choices after tying for fourth place, while Federal Hocking had three players selected after finishing ninth.

SGHS was represented by seniors Landon Hutchinson, Isaiah Geiger, Kane Hutchinson, Jake Saunders and Ty Carpenter. Landon Hutchinson was also a repeat selection from a season ago.

Southern had four first time selections to the all-league squad in seniors Joe Beegle and Tommy Ramthun, as well as juniors Blake Johnson and Crenson Rogers.

Wahama had four seniors selected in Clayton Sines, Jared Nutter, Jesse Hesson and Billy Joe McDermitt. All but Sines were repeat choices from a year ago.

Eastern was represented by seniors Ross Keller, Cameron Richmond and Reagan Rucker, as well as junior Jett Facemyer. Richmond is also a repeat selection to the all-league squad.

Justice Jenkins of Trimble was named the offensive player of the year and Nathan Mason of Belpre was chosen as the top defender in the league. Phil Faires of Trimble was also chosen as the coach of the year.

MILLER (4-4): Kody McKinniss*, Garrett Bartley*, Seattle Compston, Carson Starlin.
