MERCERVILLE, Ohio — The Eastern Lady Eagles keep on winning softball games, and keep on racking up the runs.

A day after defeating host Miller 29-4, the Lady Eagles traveled to South Gallia on Thursday — and blanked the Lady Rebels 24-0 in a Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division tilt.

The Eagles are now 3-0 — both overall and in the TVC-Hocking.

The Rebels are now 0-3 — both overall and in the league.

Eastern opened the season on Tuesday, turning aside the Southern Tornadoes 11-1, as that contest — like Wednesday’s at Miller and Thursday’s at South Gallia — was called following the fifth inning with the 10-run mercy rule.

For those into counting, the Lady Eagles have played a total of 15 innings — and have outscored their opponents by a staggering combined margin of 64-5.

Of course, that’s 53-4 over the past two games, as Eastern pitcher Jenna Coleman worked three innings on Thursday — and did not allow a baserunner.

She struck out six of the nine Rebels she faced, as a groundout to second baseman Hannah Bailey, a groundout to shortstop Sidney Cook, and a popout to catcher Mollie Maxon made for her other three outs.

Emmalea Durst pitched the final two innings for Eastern, striking out three of the seven Rebels she saw.

She bookended her two frames by assisting on grounders, as Jessica Luther walked for South Gallia in the fourth and stole second.

Caitlyn Vanscoy singled in the fifth for the Rebels’ only hit, as she too stole second, but was left stranded three while Luther was caught stealing.

The Eagles opened the game with nine runs in the first, followed by three in the second, including a two-run home run by Maxon.

Eastern added a run in the third, followed by four in the fourth and finally seven in the fifth.

Eastern hosted Waterford Friday for another TVC-Hocking tilt, then traveled to fellow undefeated Meigs for a non-league doubleheader on Saturday.
