Marauders win quad meet

BIDWELL, Ohio — Just more proof that every point matters.

The Meigs boys track and field team claimed first place by just one point in a quad meet hosted by River Valley High School, on Tuesday.

The Marauders took first with a total of 103, while the host Raiders were second with 102. Eastern was third with 32 points, while South Gallia claimed fourth with three.

The MHS 4x800m relay team claimed first with a time of 9:01, while teams from River Valley took second (9:11) and third (9:39). The Maroon and Gold 4x200m relay team was first with a time of 1:39, while EHS was second with time of 1:41 and River Valley was third with a time of 1:43.

The Raiders won the 4x100m relay with a time of 47.99, while teams from Meigs claimed second (48.61) and third (54.53). RVHS also won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:46, followed by Eastern (3:48) and Meigs (3:49).

RVHS junior Isaiah Beach (16.53) won the 110m hurdles, followed by Eastern’s Clayton Ritchie (17.03) and Meigs’ Jared Kennedy (18.23).

Beach also won the 300m hurdles with a time of 46.12, while MHS sophomore Bailey Caruthers (50.54) claimed second and RVHS junior J.D. Dummitt (53.04) took third.

Raiders senior Dayton Hardway won the 100m dash with a time of 12.29, while the MHS duo of Jacob Perry (12.61) and Lane Cullums (12.63) took second and third respectively.

The 200m dash was won by Meigs junior Grant Adams (24.39), followed by EHS junior Jett Facemyer (24.79) and MHS sophomore Devon Hawley (25.25).

Jett Facemyer won the 400m dash with a time of 54.41, while MHS freshman Zach Bartrum (56.08) was second and Jacob Kemper (56.58) was third for the Raiders.

The 800m run was won by River Valley sophomore Kyle Coen (2:17.52), followed by Meigs’ Kennedy (2:17.59) and River Valley junior Garrett Young (2:22).

Kemper (4:59) won the 1600m run for the Raiders, while Young (5:07) was second for the Silver and Black, and Meigs junior Hunter Parsons (5:09) took third.

RVHS sophomore Nathaniel Abbott won the 3200m run with a time of 10:56, followed by MHS senior Jake Swindell (11:23) and River Valley sophomore George Rickett (11:38).

The discus throw was won by Raiders freshman Eric Weber, followed by Nick Combs (112-10) from Meigs and Corbett Catlett (110-7) from Eastern.

In the shot put, Combs (44-7.5) claimed first place for the Marauders, while MHS senior Colton Lilly (41-6) was second and RVHS freshman Ty VanSickle (40-0) was third.

Meigs sweep the top three spots in the high jump, Caruthers and Hawley tying for first at 5-10, with Lilly taking third at 5-10 in more attempts.

Perry won the long jump with a leap of 18-5.5 for the Marauders, while Beach (18-1) was second for RVHS and Lilly (17-0) was third for Meigs.
