A total of seven student-athletes from the Ohio Valley Publishing area were chosen to the 2016 all-district boys golf team, as voted on by the coaches within the southeast Ohio region.

All six schools from Gallia and Meigs counties were represented with at least one selection, with Gallia Academy leading all local programs with two choices on the Division II team.

Junior Taae Hamid was named to the second team in D-2 for the Blue Devils and was the only local golfer to earn a selection higher than honorable mention.

GAHS junior Kaden Thomas was a D-2 honorable mention choice, as were Meigs junior Levi Chapman and River Valley senior Grant Gilmore.

Piketon’s Kevin Moore was named the Division II coach of the year, with the Red Streaks also providing half of the first team selections — including D-2 player of the year D.J. Graham.

Eastern senior John Little, Southern junior Jonah Hoback and South Gallia junior Curtis Haner were all honorable mention selections in Division III.

Carl Schneider of West Union was the D-3 coach of the year. Derek Lemley of Chesapeake was the D-3 player of the year.

Warren’s Nathan Evans was named the Division I boys coach of the year. Warren senior Kyler Dennis was chosen as the D-1 district player of the year.
