POMEROY — Sheriff Keith Wood reports on Friday, Nov. 6 the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission Major Crimes Task Force of Gallia-Meigs with assistance from the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at 42994 Lot 2 State Route 124 Pomeroy at the residence of Paul McDaniel III. Agents with the Task Force through intelligence and investigations were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence.
Upon entry into the residence Jordan Lekei Alexander, 24, of Detroit, Michigan was detained, after checking for warrants Alexander was arrested for an outstanding warrant from Charleston, West Virginia for Dangerous Drugs.
While Task Force Agents were conducting a search of the residence Meigs County Deputy Curtis Jones spotted a vehicle owned by Paul Mcdaniel III in the Village of Syracuse and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle for an equipment violation, where McDaniel was detained.
Agents searching the residence seized approximately 24.8 grams of heroin and $1,780.00 in cash and scales used to weigh the illegal drugs.
Both Jordan Lekei Alexander and Paul McDaniel III are charged with Felony 2 Possession of Heroin, Alexander is being housed in the Washington County Jail and McDaniel is being held at the Middleport Jail, both are awaiting court appearances in the Meigs County Court.
The Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission Major Crime Task Force of Gallia-Meigs was formed in September 2013 and consists of the Meigs and Gallia County Sheriff’s Office and the Middleport and Gallipolis Police Departments, The Ohio Organized Crime Commission is part of the Ohio Attorney General Office.
Sheriff Keith Wood stated that he’s very proud of all the agencies involved in the task force and they will continue to push forward and combat the drug issues that our communities are facing.
