POMEROY — Meigs County Prosecuting Attorney Colleen Williams is brining on an additional staff member.
Trenton J. Cleland will be joining Williams’ staff as an assistant prosecutor handling misdemeanor cases in the Meigs County Court.
He will be working in the Prosecutor’s Office with Assistant Prosecutor Jeremy Fisher and C. David Warren, Victim’s Assistance Director Theda Petrasko, Victim’s Assistance Shelly Kemper, Diversion Officer/Office Administrator Teresa Smith and Administrative Assistant Courtney Nitz.
Cleland graduated from Southern High School in 1994 and from Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law in 2002.
After graduating from law school, he moved to Lakeland, Fla., and became an assistant state attorney for the 10th Judicial Circuit. He then went into private practice for the law firm of Peterson PA, overseeing two law offices.
According to Cleland, he has deep roots in Meigs County and wanted the small town lifestyle in which he had grown up. He returned to the area in 2007 and opened Trenton J. Cleland Law Office in Pomeroy.
In 2015, he was approached by Williams with an opportunity to work as an assistant prosecutor in the Meigs County Court system, and he accepted.
Cleland continues to maintain his private practice, handling divorces, dissolution, personal injury, real estate matters, estates, wills and nursing home planning.
