MASON, W.Va. — A new housing complex is under construction in the Town of Mason, on land that formerly housed the Mason bowling alley.

RPG Management of Racine, Ohio, is constructing the four-building complex on Third Street, which will include a total of eight “flats,” according to manager Christopher Roush.

“There is nothing like this in the area,” Roush said.

Each of the four buildings will include two, two-bedroom apartments. They will offer an open living room and kitchen area with bar, laundry room, and large bathroom with linen closet. There will be more than 1,200 square feet in each flat, which will also have both front and back patios.

Interiors will include all tile and hardwood floors. There will be maple cabinets, as well as ceiling fans. Heat pumps and extra insulation will help make them energy efficient, according to Roush.

Roush added the flats will have no steps, and hallways will be four feet wide. While they will not be ADA-compliant, Roush said the company is definitely “keeping it in mind” to go the extra mile to make them accessible.

“We want them to appeal to everybody,” he said.

The complex will be landscaped, with paved parking in front of the units. Trash disposal and lawn care will be included for those renting the flats. They will not be HUD approved, according to Roush.

RPG Management manages many properties throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley, both commercial and residential. Similar flats have been built in Parkersburg, W.Va., and Belpre, Ohio. Plans are also under way to develop six acres in Racine, and an additional 42 acres in Parkersburg.

Roush said he felt Mason was a good area to develop because it is “quiet” and a “good place to live.”
