Reader supports Dingus for State Rep

To the Residents of Gallia County,

I graduated from Rio Grande College in 1965, taught at Rio Grande College for 14 years, and return there whenever possible. I have never endorsed a political candidate for office, nor have I participated in any political campaign. As election time comes nearer, I felt compelled to mention the future potential and past accomplishments of Dr. Bill Dingus. I feel he would extend his efforts and expertise for the good of all beyond Lawrence County borders.

Having only been told of the other candidates’ accomplishments and contributions, I have seen what Dr. Bill Dingus has accomplished in Lawrence County almost on a weekly basis since moving to Lawrence County in 1980. With John Carey’s leaving, we in this voting district have an opportunity to elect a candidate to continue Mr. Carey’s regional efforts and past accomplishments.

Dr. Dingus has been a remarkable educator! While Dean of Ohio University Southern, his regional campus was the fastest growing (student population) regional campus in the State of Ohio. His faculty and staff were ultra-active in many programs and projects in Ironton, Ohio, surrounding communities and Lawrence County as a whole. Now, as the leader of the LEDC organization, Dr. Dingus has brought new business and industry to “The Point,” Lawrence County’s business-industrial complex at South Point, Ohio.

Dr. Bill Dingus possesses many outstanding qualities and an incomparable work ethic. His experience in education and business and industry in this section of Ohio testify to his commitment and application of the necessary skills. In addition to this experience, commitment and love of southeast Ohio, Dr. Dingus possesses something that has been lacking in the political field in our country and our region in some candidates in the past. His integrity is, to my knowledge, without blemish. We need that today! Dr. Dingus will listen to his constituents.

When this election occurs, I urge all of those who are eligible, to vote for the candidate of your choice. We have no reason to complain, protest or feel “underrepresented” if we place a concerned, capable leader in the available position. We in southeast Ohio deserve as much attention as “Buckeyes” in northwestern Ohio, northeastern Ohio and southwestern Ohio. We deserve more in our state than “stepchild status.”

Consider your choices and at least vote for a person who truly cares about his region, its future and his people. I feel Dr. Dingus represents what our district and our people need and deserve. Thank you for reading this.

Sincerely and gratefully,

C. Robert Leith

Ironton, Ohio
