Last week, we talked about the different storms that are experienced in the soul of man resulting in devastating outcomes. Understand that the reason society today experiences devastation in the home, work, in their bodies, their relationships, etc, is often the result of raging storms inside the soul. It is not the other way around.
In other words, the emotional tornadoes around us, and the destructions of homes, and businesses (outside of the outside attacks, i.e., economy, tax increases, etc) do not cause problems in the family unit, nor in the church of Jesus Christ. Sure they aggravate but not destroy. In fact, the opposite is true. Outwards devastation causes us to look inside, forgive, forget, love and unite. This is historically true everywhere.
The Word of God tells us that the law of the Spirit has set me free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2). This means that as a Christian I am no longer bound, to the law of sin and death. Death here not only deals with physical death (which we will all experience should Jesus terry) but this word also deals with everything that causes or leads to death – the result of the fall of man, which is the earth cursed system.
Since I am free from the law of sin and death, and as we mentioned last week in Romans 5:17, I then shall reign in life as a result of God’s grace and of the gift of His righteousness, which demonstrates that I can live above the storm and not in it.
Tornadoes are composed of different things, such as pressure, wind, oxygen, and other things that I am not very familiar with. Yet, we all know how to protect ourselves from them if we have the time and act wisely. Most of us can protect ourselves from the devastating power of a tornado, though perhaps not able to protect our cars, garages, and even homes. Yet our lives can remain intact – almost always.
Even more and even better, we can protect ourselves from the raging storms of life that wreak havoc in our minds, wills, emotions, relationships, and families. We may not be able to stop taxes from going up (for the most part), we may not be able to control gas prices, or rely on outside sources to take care of us, but we can certainly protect ourselves from the storms that the enemy of our soul blows at us.
As a believer, you are not susceptible to the whiles of the enemy, because you are not his subject, but you are a citizen of heaven, with citizenry rights, and with a kingdom authority whereby all of heaven protects you and God delivers you out of all the storms of life.
God is on the throne, and you are seated with him in heavenly places. I didn’t say that, Paul did, in Ephesians 2:6. You are not to succumb, or even ride the storms of life. You can actually, tell the storms to “be still.” Jesus taught us how to do that. You don’t have to succumb or submit to illnesses, deceases, family destructions, poverty, etc. Whatever is part of the curse, you have been delivered from. Think about that. As Jesus said: If you believe, you will see the glory of God. (John 11:40).
Make it a Stormless Day!
