Lady Defenders fall to Chesapeake in opener

CHESAPEAKE, Ohio — The Ohio Valley Christian girls basketball team suffered it’s first loss of the season Thursday night, 79-29 at the hands of the Lady Panthers in Lawrence County.

Chesapeake (1-0) led 28-7 after the opening stanza and pushed the it’s lead to 45-14 at the half. CHS out scored OVCS (0-1) 13-to-10 in the third period and 21-to-5 in the finale to complete the 79-29 victory.

Emily Carman led the Lady Defenders with 12 points on the night, including a trio of three-pointers. Madison Crank finished with nine points, Sarah Schoonover had six and Bekah Sargent contributed two points to round out the OVCS total.Ohio Valley Christian finished 7-of-18 from the free throw line.

Chesapeake was led by Jordan Porter with 24 points and Sydnee hall with 16 in the triumph.Chesapeake was 7-of-9 from the charity stripe.
