POMEROY —An elected official in Pomeroy has stepped down after allegations came to light concerning discrimination against a fellow public employee.

Pomeroy Mayor Mary McAngus has resigned amid controversy alleging she discriminated against Kyle Calendine, an openly gay police officer, and his significant other.

The printed version of the Sunday-Times Sentinel has already cleared the press, but updates to this story will be published on The Daily Sentinel, the Gallipolis Daily Tribune and the Point Pleasant Register websites as information becomes available.
