POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — The Point Pleasant wrestling team made the most of its final regular season tuneup with visiting Ripley, as the Big Blacks scored a 43-27 victory in a non-conference dual between Class AAA squads in Mason County.

The host Big Blacks won eight of the 14 weight classes overall, with five of those victories coming by pinfall decision. The Vikings, conversely, recorded just one pinfall in their six individual triumphs.

Point Pleasant jumped out to an early 16-0 advantage after two pinfalls and a major-decision in the lower-three weight classes, but an injury default and two decisions allowed RHS to pull back to within 16-12 six matches in.

The Big Blacks got the only forfeit win at the dual to extend their lead out to 22-12, then won four of the final seven matches to wrap up the 16-point triumph.

Caleb Leslie (106), John Raike (113), Austin Rutter (160), Brycen Reymond (182) and Jacob Duncan (220) each recorded a pinfall victory for PPHS, while Josh Hudson earned six points via the forfeit in the 145-pound division.

Guy Fisher (120) scored four points with a major decision, while Trevor Hill added three points to the team score for a decision at 170.
