Free tire collection
POMEROY — A free scrap tire collection will be offered from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. no Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Meigs County Fairgrounds. No dealers or commercially generated tires accepted. Limit 10 tires per resident. Bring photo identification to prove you are a Meigs County resident. The collection is for Meigs County residents only. Tires 20 inches or less in diameter will be accepted. The tire collection is sponsored by the Meigs County Health Department, Gallia-Jackson-Vinton-Meigs Solid Waste District and Meigs County Court System. Call 992-6626 for more information.
Immunization clinic
POMEROY — The Meigs County Health Department will host a childhood immunization clinic from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Tuesday.
Special services
RACINE — “Project Hope” will be presented by Southern Charge United Methodist Church in a series of three services. The service on Sept. 13 is “How can I experience hope in the midst of fear?” The service on Sept. 20 is “How can I feel secure in an insecure world?” The service on Sept. 27 is “Where is God when I am struggling?” The services will be at three locations and held at 9 a.m. at Bethany UMC, 10 a.m. at Morning Star UMC, 11 a.m. at Carmel-Sutton UMC.
Open house set
COOLVILLE — Arcadia Nursing Center will host an open house from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sept. 19. There will be door prizes, live music, free food, kids games, cotton candy and ice cream.
Firemen having barbecue
CHESTER — Chester Volunteer Firemen will have a chicken and rib barbecue with homemade ice cream on Labor Day with serving to begin at the firehouse at 11 a.m. A cornhole tournament will be held at 10 a.m.
