Born September 16, 1921, in Coleman, Kentucky, He was the son of the late Dave Coleman and Rosie Stiltner, and was raised by his grandparents, the late Lewis and his beloved Grandmother Mary Coleman. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Dotson Coleman in October of 1970.
He was a US Army World War II veteran where he served in the South Pacific as a paratrooper. He worked as a steel worker for Buckeye Steel and became a stay at home father after his wife’s passing in 1970. He was very proud that he was saved and baptized in July of 2009.
He is survived by his children, Dave Coleman, Judy (Rod) Neil, Gail (Tom) Roberts, Kathy (Bob) Taylor and Stevie (Lisa) Coleman; 13 grandchildren, Shawn Pope, Ricky Coleman, Abby and David Neil, Chrissy (Jimmy) Hughes, Jason (Lindsey) Roberts, Daniel, Sarah and Hannah Roberts, Angie (Ricky) Smith, Joey (Stephanie) Taylor and Steven Coleman; 11 great grandchildren, Michael, Michael, Taylor, Alec, John David, Dillon, Kaitlyn, James, Miri Amelia, Chloe and Cole; and a special sister, Glinnis and a special cousin, Verdie.
In addition to his parents, grandparents and wife he was also preceded in death by a daughter: Nancy Coleman; sons: Ray and Beanie Coleman and grandson Mikey Coleman.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 in the Cremeens Funeral Home, Racine, with Pator Al Hartson officiating. Interment will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by Tuppers Plains VFW Post # 9053 and Racine American Legion Post #602.
