He was born Oct. 24, 1933, son of the late Evert and Clara Quivey Thomas. Don was a member of the Trinity Congregational Church, a 50-year member of Pomeroy Masonic Lodge, and the VFW of Mason, W.Va. He was a member of the Pomeroy Fire Department. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as manager of G & J Auto Parts in Pomeroy until his retirement in 1995.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Graves Thomas; two daughters, Melissa (Mark) Morris of Panama City, Fla., and Rebecca (Mike) Hoffman of Pomeroy; two sons, Daniel (Fonda) Thomas of Ashville, and Gregory (Christine) Thomas of Ravenna; grandchildren: Bradley (Amanda) Morris, Gregory Morris, Trevor Depoy, Danielle (Anthony) George, Michelle and Heather Thomas, Zachary, Matthew and Erica Thomas; two great granddaughters, Sydney and London Morris; brother, Horton Thomas; sister, Fay DeWees; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ralph and Nell Graves; son-in-law, Nick Depoy.
There will be no viewing, but a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at the Trinity Congregational Church, with Pastor Tom Johnson officiating.
